"I'm not in any rat race, or in any competition! I am just happy to be able to have a place to do what I am passionate about, to do what I love, and that is serving others by making them look and feel amazing! Giving back and helping others is fulfillment for me!-Biba xo
Biba Islah is an 8th generation native New Orleans creole. Her ancestors arrived in New Orleans in 1730. She is a descendant of King Louis Philippe of France. Her ancestors were hairstylists in the 1800s, when Hairstylist & Barbers were considered domestics. They created hair tonics, skin healing remedies, and medicine from scratch using all natural ingredients, these ingredients were passed down, along with the artistic hairdressing abilities.
Feeling that the New Orleans history of the creole culture and their contributions are becoming taboo, hidden and changed in New Orleans, Biba feels that she owes her ancestors that paved the way in the city a chance to save their legacy!
Opening Biba Isla Salon in the exact location where one of her ancestors worked in the mid 1800s, a fact that she found out after opening the salon, makes her know this is meant to be.
As New Orleans natives are known all over the world for taking pride in providing the best service & amazing experiences in any industry, Biba also takes pride in going over & beyond with exquisite service!
Biba has worked at Guerlain Spa, Spa at Windsor Court, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC, Miami swim Fashion Week, Vogue magazine, Heroine Magazine, Amelie G, Scene Magazine, and has worked with several films in Louisiana.
Habiba's first name is a term of endearment, meaning beloved. Her middle name Islah means to reform, improve or make better. Her parents chose the perfect name for her gifted abilities to help and heal others!
The brand name "Biba Isla" means Love Island, it was chosen for the salon, which is comparable to an Island of Love.
Biba's hobbies and gifts do not stop at hair and makeup, she is also a medium, painter, writer and practices transcendental meditation. A spiritual Guru at heart!
